昆明长水 “Kūnmíng ChángShuǐ” International Airport, 云南

昆明长水 “Kūnmíng ChángShuǐ” International Airport opened its much anticipated runway 今年六月二十八日,June 28th, 2012.

Alot of talk and “我听说” to be had beforehand.  An excerpt from ChinaDailymail.com.cn,

“With a total investment of 23 billion yuan ($3.6 billion), Changshui airport is expected to serve 38 million passengers and handle 303,000 flights annually in the short term. The long-term objective is 65 million passengers and 456,000 flights, according to Xinhua’s report.”

Very big shoes to fill and I truly hope it does!

I set for fēijī 飞机 travels a few days after its celebratory opening.

Very well signposted

I hoped on the direct shuttle bus (25 RMB), arrived safe ‘n sound and was greeted by lots of very helpful staff.  There are also volunteers on hand to guide you and assist.  汉语, 英语 signs.

Some 机场 jīchǎng “airports” give me the crawlies.  Wèi shénme?  Yīnwèi.. they’re so boring and bland they give you the heebeejeebees.  A few come to mind… I’m sure you can use your noggin!

昆明长水 International Airport in my mind reflects strength and ambition.  In these times of much talked about “recession” and doom ‘n gloom, I trust it be welcomed with open arms.
